The week before your period

The luteal phase at work: planning the days before your period.

The luteal phase runs from ovulation to your next period, roughly the second half of your cycle. Its last few days are where a lot of people feel the difference most, and where a bit of planning helps most.

What a lot of people notice

Not everyone feels the luteal phase, and the ones who do feel it differently. Common ones in the days before a period: getting tired earlier, sleeping worse, shorter patience, a harder time concentrating, and feeling more sensitive to criticism. In Maeve this late stretch is called Drift.

Plan the week, not the mood

  • Move creation earlier and keep delivery in place. Finish slides and documents before the dip, so the late luteal days are about showing up, not starting from zero.
  • Fewer back-to-back calls. Put the meetings that need the most patience on a different day if you can.
  • Use the detail-friendly hours. Many people find steady, checklist work easier than open-ended brainstorming around now.
  • Protect sleep. Keep late plans light on the nights before a big day.
  • Book something easy for after. A slow walk after a long review, or a quiet evening you do not have to cancel.

When it is more than a rough week

If the days before your period regularly knock out work, relationships or sleep, that is worth tracking properly and talking to a doctor about. Severe premenstrual symptoms have names (PMS, PMDD) and treatments, and you are not meant to just push through them.

How Maeve does it

Maeve marks your likely hard days two weeks ahead, right next to your meetings, and suggests what to move, prep or protect. If you feel fine on a day it expected to be harder, your plan stays as it is.

Maeve is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition. If your symptoms worry you, talk to a doctor.
